[PiL's cocktail version]
and me are going on a new adventure!
It all started on 08.31.09 when John Lydon posted a mysterious message to his Yahoo group:
“ It’s coming sometime maybe…”
The next day a website address was posted: http://www.pilofficial.com/, which led to a splash page containing the PiL logo and the words:
“I could be right I could be wrong”
In the middle of the night on 09.07.09, Lydon issued a press release announcing the return of Public Image Ltd.
PiL will play five dates in the UK in December 2009.
This morning at 4AM we obtained two tickets to attend the show on 12.21.09 at the Brixton, 02 Academy in London.
It’s going to a Merry Christmas in jolly ole’ England baby!

What the fuck is punk?
Before someone came up with the labels ‘Rock & Roll’, ‘Jazz’, etc. what do you think people called their music? My guess would be that it fell into two catagories. You either “Liked it” or “Didn’t Like it”. Then came labels. R&R, Country, Jazz, Classical, Metal, Hard Rock, Death Metal, Pop, Top 40 Comtemorary, Jazz Fusion, Metal Fusion, Heavy Metal, Alternative, Hip Hop, Rap, Urban, Trance, Industrial, Power Pop, Ska, New Wave, Leftfield, Alternitive Country, Experimental, Post Rock, Goth, Grunge, Alternitive Metal, Black Metal, Stoner Metal, Grind, Grindcore, Nu Metal, Progressive Metal, Rapcore, Thrash, Speed Metal, and finally, last but not least, PUNK. Guess what, before any of these catagories were invented the groups that have fallen into one or more of these catagories, were considered one of two things, GOOD or BAD, and at one time another, DIFFERENT. Now that PUNK is a catagory, there really aren’t any original PUNK bands. When the pistols started practicing, do you think they set out to be a PUNK band. Fuck no they didn’t . They wanted to shake shit up, they wanted to piss people off for no other reason than to piss them off and they wanted to PLAY. Thats it. They wanted to PLAY their music. And so, it was the people, who fucked ourselves out of anything NEW and ORIGINAL by putting a label on the music and attitude the Pistols , the Dolls, and maybe a few others. It is against the way our brains work not to put something into a catagory , but just imagine how much more ORIGINAL music we would have if we somehow did not do that. If someone is telling me about a new band, I am just as guilty as the next guy by asking “what/who do they sound LIKE?” Its natural. But when we think of punk, I think everyone should be a little educated as to why and how the “catagory” came about. Everyone has a different take on that question I’m well aware. For me though, It started and ended with the Sex Pistols.

posted this incredible footage of Sid Vicious dressed in a jock strap while lipsynching Eddie Cochran’s “Something Else”. The first video got corrupted so he fixed it and reposted it, but the first video showed up again and the two images turned out to be front and back images of Sid.
I just thought it was cool the way it turned out and I really love the video of Sid.
